A sleek, stylish bar in the city's legal heart, you'll find comfy, deep leather chesterfields alongside Parisian-style tables without a hint of clutter.

This chic little venue is home to a local microbrewery, but its Australian pub and tapas food is among the best in town. Located on the water at Fremantle, dine alfresco or among the cosy, industrial décor whilst watching the beer artisans at work. The wood-fired pizza tastes as good as it smells and the brewery is a good spot for a weekend brunch. Whatever you're eating, don't forget to try a local Little Creatures ale.

As hard as it is to leave those freshly shucked oysters, charcuterie plates and dozens of brilliant Western Australian wines, drag yourself off the comfy ottomans in the bar and head into this Parisian-style bistro where the French provincial-influenced cuisine (with a twist) is based on fresh seasonal products and local inspirations. The room buzzes with the chatter of locals, making for a fun night out with friends.

This Perth institution has been flipping patties since 1946. With a reputation for hearty, wholesome food, there's no shortage of burgers to try with over 40 on the menu. Whilst the hamburgers and steaks keep the crowds coming, the lentil burgers and veggie alternatives are just as good. You simply cannot visit Perth and not watch the sun setting over the Indian Ocean. When you do, Amber Jacks is a great purse-friendly option for trying some freshly-caught seafood. The best way to experience it though, is by buying some fish and chips at this upmarket chippie, crossing the road to Cottesloe Beach, and dining alfresco on a picnic blanket. Leave yourself plenty of time to gather your supplies before sunset, it gets busy here.

Fish and chip shops are plentiful around Perth, but Cicerello's in Fremantle is the oldest and the best. Housed on the boardwalk at Fisherman's Wharf, make sure you grab a waterside seat before choosing from a huge range of fresh seafood, including oysters, mussels, crabs and crayfish. They've been serving good grub here for more than 100 years and judging by the crowds, it doesn't look like it's going away anytime soon.
